Spring 2021 Virtual Services:

Welcome! The UMBC Counseling Center is open and providing fully remote services due to safety considerations for the campus community during the Covid-19 pandemic. Clinicians will meet virtually with students through a secure video conference platform (WebEx).

Due to applicable mental health licensure laws, please be advised that the UMBC Counseling Center can only provide ongoing counseling services to students who are physically located in the State of Maryland at the time of service. If you are located outside of Maryland, we can provide short-term crisis support and or referral assistance to a provider located within your state.

How to Make an Appointment?

Contact our front desk staff at 410-455-2472 to set up with an appointment to talk with one of our counselors. You will be scheduled for a brief appointment (20-30 minutes) and asked to complete a few electronic forms prior to the appointment. During the appointment, your counselor will review your concerns, consider your goals, discuss counseling options and resources, and collaboratively develop a plan for the support you need. Some options may include short-term individual counseling, group counseling, workshops, or referral to an off-campus provider.

Are you interested in Group Counseling Services?

Let our front desk staff know which group you are interested in, and they will connect you with the counselor leading that group. The counselor will ask questions about your needs, therapy goals, and will work collaboratively with you to see if the group will be a good fit for you.

Are you interested in Referral Services?

Let our front desk staff know you would like to make an appointment with a referral coordinator who can assist you in finding local resources. You may also access our referral database.

Do You Need Emergency/Crisis Services?

During Regular Business Hours: Let our front desk staff know that you are experiencing a crisis. One of our clinicians will call you back as soon as they can to provide you with support options and assist you with resources. For After Hours: Contact 410-455-3230.
